2009 Snowflake Bookends Story
I was positive there should be a way to do something with snowflakes and needlepoint. Why not bookends? It turned out the bookends part was actually the easy part. Snowflakes, by nature, do not follow a 90-degree pattern making this a basic and necessary challenge to overcome. Once I mastered that issue, it was fun to do each snowflake because I wanted to find out how they would turn out. It was almost like folding a piece of paper and cutting away small pieces to unfold it and discover the interesting snowflake that remained. I will share with you the secret of snowflake creation in needlepoint with this project.
These bookends would definitely be ones I would give to a snow enthusiast. This model has gone to the Animal Haven Gala and the American Diabetes Association Hoops and Sneakers Gala for the fundraising auctions.
