I have three items in the open building.

  1. The folding privacy screen is in the novelty quilts – Won second in class.
  2. A new TV-tray with a needlework panel on the top is in Needlework-needlepoint – Won third in class.
  3. A new bottle bag is in Needlework-other – Won second in class.
Both of the needlework items are too new to even be ready for release in patterns. Motorcycle windshield handbags transform old jeans into art for a sporty new look using ancient needlework and quilting techniques and puts girly style on adventure rides. Windshield handbags, bags, bookends, and folding screen created by Becky Bags LLC, an Olathe accessories design company, will be at the Maker Faire on June 25 and 26.

The Maker Faire will be held at Union Station Saturday, June 25, from 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, June 26, from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The faire celebrates things people create themselves and brings together Makers, Crafters, Inventors, Hackers, Scientists and Artists. Come and spark your own creativity.

Becky Bags LLC, an Olathe accessories design company, announces the release of its Snowflake Stocking design for do-it-yourself Christmas decoration enthusiasts. The Snowflake Stocking was created by Becky Rawls-Riley, President of Becky Bags LLC, and placed third in the 2010 Holiday Decorations Class of Christmas Stocking Needlepoint or Cross Stitch at the Kansas State Fair.

The sporty Snowflake Stocking is from repurposed jeans and its turned down cuff is adorned with 16 unique handmade embroidered snowflakes. At 15” tall by 10-1/2” toe to heel the stocking has ample room for goodies plus a hip pocket on one side is perfect for a candy cane or toy. Turn the stocking around and the other side awaits its special person’s name.

A quick project, the snowflake panel delivers about five hours of embroidery entertainment by stitching just three stitches a minute on evenweave 14-count needlework material. Make your own Snowflake Stocking patterns are available from the company’s web site as an ePattern, pattern book, and kit complete with pattern book and needlework supplies at www.beckybags.com/other-things/snowflake-stocking/. Patterns include pictures and charts, how to instructions, assembly and finishing details, and recommendations to select used jeans.
