2011 holiday releases include card, stocking, and ornaments from Becky Bags [...]

OLATHE, KS – Becky Bags LLC announces the release of its 2011 do-it-yourself, holiday patterns which are available in printed books and electronic ebooks. All original designs were created by award-winning designer and President, Becky Rawls-Riley. A portion of each pattern sale goes to plant a tree in Kansas through the Kansas Forest Service.

Holiday Joy Card – Send a special message and the unique gift of your needlework handiwork with cards. The Holiday Joy card has five unique snowflakes and uses a backstitch. This pattern is one of a three card set. Job Seekers will become memorable when sending the Thanks card as an interview appreciation card. The Thanks card’s plaid border is attractive and easy to stitch. The card is made with the half cross stitch and it has five colors. The Thanksgiving card has feather-looking borders and is made using the backstitch, half cross, fly, and arrowhead stitches. All 6” x 3-1/4” cards have fringed needlework fronts and fit in personal size envelopes. The cards were made for the October class provided at the Olathe Public Library by Becky Rawls-Riley.

Sporty Christmas Stocking – Let is snow on your Christmas with the 16 unique, hand-embroidered, snowflakes that adorn the turned down cuff on the jeans stocking. The Kansas State Fair, award-winning design is 15” tall x 10-1/2” from toe to heal. One side of the stocking has a jean’s hip pocket which is ideal for a toy or candy cane and the other is pocket-free leaving lots of room for a name. By stitching just 3 stitches per minute, there will be about 5 hours of creative needlework time making the needlework for the cuff. The stocking is made from repurposed jeans and the do-it-yourself pattern includes recommendations for selecting suitable jeans for a successful project.

Feather Hat, Scarf, and Stocking Cap Snowman Ornaments – Accessories add character to each of the three adorable snowmen in the needlework, felt-backed ornaments. One wears a simple scarf. Another has a pom-pom stocking cap and scarf. The third snowman sports a feathered hat and scarf. The 3” tall x 2” wide ornaments’ snowman is framed with ribbon and its image-free back has plenty of room for a name and year to make it special.

By stitching just 3 stitches per minute, each ornament will provide just over an hour of needlework entertainment. All snowmen use backstitch, Gobelin, half cross, and French knot stitches in the needlework. The feather is created using a chain stitch in the snowman with the feather hat and scarf. BONUS info included-Wear a favorite snowman as a pin simply by eliminating the ribbon hook and securing a safety pin to the back.

The ornaments were created for the 2011 Dodge House (www.dodgehouse.org) tree decorating done by Becky’s Omaha Needle Artists Chapter (www.orgsites.com/ne/omahaneedleartists) of the Embroiderer’s Guild of America (www.egausa.org).

Check out all patterns at http://bit.ly/rGIURl. All patterns may be purchased online at www.beckybags.com or by calling 913-397-8071.
